Harvey Fite was a sculptor inspired to try to use Mayan techniques to create a landscape of art in upstate NY using bluestone which was found on his land. He worked on this project for over 37 years. I cannot explain how inspiring it was to visit a place where you can see what one man’s determination can produce. If you want to learn more you can click here. Below are a few pictures I took today.
The monolith weighs 9 tons and Is 13ft high and was raised using techniques adapted from the Egyptians and Easter Islanders.
The Monolith is on a giant pedestal made of stone laid down by Fite.
This is one of many sculptures found on the property. It is called FLAME.
